Blind Repairs & Servicing

Chains that slip, a roller that won't stay up, a bent venetian slat, a motor that's stopped answering its remote, a track that's come loose after a move. We repair and re-string what can be saved and tell you plainly when replacing is the cheaper answer — no pressure either way.

Why Lonehill is specified differently

Built for how this belt actually lives

Lonehill is one of the north's highest-volume stretches of secure complexes and townhouse clusters — which changes the brief.

Many similar windows, not one grand statement window. Most Lonehill jobs are about getting a whole unit — or several units for owners with more than one — right and consistent, not designing around a single showpiece pane.

Units sit close together. Lounges and main bedrooms often look straight onto a neighbour's patio or a shared walkway — day/night blinds and a sunscreen-plus-blockout double roller do the double duty here: light in, sightlines out.

Body corporates have opinions. Most complexes here are strict on what's visible from outside — fascia colour, no dangling cords over a shared wall, tidy cassette lines. We measure with those rules in mind, not against them.

Highveld sun and hail, both taken seriously. West-facing units bake through summer, and this belt gets its share of the season's hail — sunscreen fabrics and wind/sensor-retracting awnings are the honest answer, not a fixed roof that takes the full hit.

Patios are compact. A folding-arm awning earns its keep here by disappearing into its cassette the moment it's not needed — no posts, no clutter on a small braai stoep.

The Lonehill Complex Light Handbook

We wrote down everything we know about how the sun crosses this suburb and what it does to a cluster or complex home — and gave it away.

  • The real sun-path numbers for this latitude, season by season — and which of your windows they actually ruin.
  • What we would fit on each elevation, why it beats the alternative here — and the honest catch with every one of them.
  • What the trustees control, what stays your own decision, and the five things only an on-site measure can settle.

Complex living, after hours

Every unit shaded, before the lights come on.

Walk Lonehill's complexes at dusk and you'll see the pattern — blind after blind already lowered by the time the first light switches on inside. That's the standard we fit to: shading that's sorted before you're even home.

Scroll to watch the block settle in for the evening.

Questions

Before you book

Will you work within our body corporate's rules on window coverings?

Yes. Most Lonehill complexes have rules on what's visible from outside — fascia colour, no external cords, tidy cassette lines. Tell us your complex's rules at the free measure and we'll specify around them.

I own more than one unit in the complex — can you quote them together?

Yes, it's common here. We can measure and quote several units in a single visit and keep fabric and colour consistent across them.

Is a folding-arm awning really worth it on a small complex patio?

For most Lonehill stoeps, yes — it turns an unused, shade-free corner into somewhere you'll actually sit, and folds away completely when you don't need it. Your consultant will tell you honestly if your aspect or space doesn't suit one.

Do you offer child-safe or cordless options?

Yes. Chain and cord tensioners are standard practice on every install, and wand-tilt or motorised control removes the cord altogether — just ask for child-safe options when you book your measure.

Battery or wired motors — which suits a complex unit?

Battery motors retrofit cleanly with no rewiring, which suits most existing units. Wired motors suit a renovation or a new build where an electrician is already on site. Your consultant will recommend based on your windows.

Are your roller shutters security shutters?

No — and we'd rather say so upfront. The roller shutters we fit are shading shutters: rigid aluminium slats that roll down on the outside of the glass to stop heat and glare before it gets into the room, and to close a west-facing window down completely at the end of the day. Security-rated shutters are a different product with a different specification, available on request. We won't let you buy one thinking it's the other.

How long from quote to fitting?

Every blind is made to order, so timing depends on fabric and motorisation — your consultant confirms an exact lead time on the written quote.
